Kendall’s 15 advanced culinary arts students returned from their amazing trip to Thailand, which culminated in a celebration of Thai culture and cuisine at Kendall College on Wednesday, July 8.
The day started with Christopher Koetke, Dean of the School of Culinary Arts, as special guest speaker at the Thai Festival Chicago at Daley Center Plaza. That evening, the School of Culinary Arts, in partnership with Arun Sampanthavivat and the Royal Consulate General – Chicago, hosted a reception in the Capitanini Banquet Room to celebrate the festival and to recognize its students’ culinary journey to Thailand.
The event featured a delicious buffet of Thai dishes prepared by the students who were eager to share their enhanced culinary skills, acquired during their two weeks of study at Suan Dusit International Culinary School in the Dusit district of Bangkok, Thailand. The menu included Chin Ping (marinated fried pork), Kaeng Phet (fish curry), Tum Sua (papaya & noodle salad) and Kha Neaw Mamuong (sweet sticky rice with mango), just to name a few. Many leaders from the Thai community in Chicago attended this special event and a Thai dance group also performed.
