Congratulations to Christopher Koetke, dean of the Kendall College School of Culinary Arts, who was named chair-elect of The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission at its biannual meeting held in West Palm Beach, Florida on January 16, 2011. He has been on the commission since 2009 and will serve through 2015.

The ACFEF Accrediting Commission works to uphold and enforce the strict standards required for culinary-school accreditation. This includes ensuring that accredited programs meet standards and competencies set for faculty, curriculum and student services.  The ACFEF Accrediting Commission has accredited Kendall College’s Culinary Arts Associate program since 1988 and the Baking & Pastry Associate program since 2008.

Koetke joined Kendall in 1998 as a chef instructor and became dean of the School of Culinary Arts in 2005, when he established its award-winning sustainability program. In 2010, he became vice president of the Laureate International Universities Centers of Excellence in Culinary Arts, while remaining dean at Kendall. Recipient of the Chefs Collaborative 2011 Pathfinder Award for his work in sustainability, he was also named Cooking Teacher of the Year in 2009 by the International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP).
