Take a new pistachio liqueur from Italy, give it to Kendall College students enrolled in the Schools of Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management to whip up some desserts and cocktails, and what do you get? Six fantastic recipes and two winners who each earned a $750 scholarship.
On October 25, the makers of Dumante Verdenoce hosted a recipe competition at Kendall College featuring the top three dessert recipes and top three cocktail concoctions among nearly 30 student entries. Each first-place-category winner received a $250 American Express gift card in addition to their scholarships. Second-place winners won $250 each and third-place winners each received $100.
Kendall student Tyler Burns won first place in the cocktail category for her Dumante Spumoni Martini that blended Dumante, vodka and pistachio gelato poured into a chocolate-drizzled glass and garnished with cherries and rose petals. Kristine Antonian took first place in the dessert category for her Pistachio Cardamom Soufflé with Dumante Chocolate Sauce and Ice Cream. Student Susie Sullivan Fiske won third prize in the cocktail category, and Diana Kao and Kristen Beckwith snagged second and third, respectively, in the dessert category.
