Coming this September, the Les Roches School of Hospitality Management at Kendall College will have a new instructor in its classrooms. His name is Glen C. Ramsborg, Ph.D., CMP, a veteran education professional with a 25-year career in meeting and event management. Dean Jeffrey Catrett is delighted about this new member of the faculty. “Dr. Ramsborg’s extensive experience and background in the meetings industry – combined with his focus on adult education – make him an ideal fit for this position. We are certain that he will be a tremendous boost to our growing program in terms of enhancing curriculum development and classroom teaching,” he said.

Dr. Ramsborg’s extensive meeting and event background includes spending the past nearly five years as Senior Director, Education, Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA), where he served as the Executive Editor of the fifth edition of PCMA’s Professional Meeting Management, recognized as the industry’s premier textbook. PCMA named him the “Educator of the Year” in 2003. He is President of The Ramsborg Group Ltd., a multi-management and educational consultation firm, and received his Ph.D. in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota College of Education.

“Education is my passion, and I am looking forward to this opportunity to devote my energies in an academic setting,” Ramsborg said. “The chance to introduce students to – and further the professionalism of – the meetings industry was an oppportunity I could not pass up.”

People like Glen C. Ramsborg who are interested in imparting knowledge and provide students with the best of guidance and assistance regarding their academics are rare to find. Therefore I think that more and more professors should understand their responsibilities like Ramsborg does.

In my two brief encounters with Glen, he impressed me with his passion for teaching and his “down to earth” communication style. After a minute or two, I felt like I had known him for years. I’m confident that students and faculty will enjoy working with him.
