Kendall College, June 15th, 2011 | Category: Inside Kendall

Michelle Coussens, dean of the School of Business, recently presented the first P.R.O. Award at the Honors Day Ceremony on Saturday, May 22. The Business P.R.O. Award stands for Professionalism, Responsibility and Outstanding Academic Achievement. The award is sponsored by the School of Business and given to the graduating senior who has most demonstrated the qualities of professionalism, academic achievement, leadership and service.

Business faculty were provided a list of graduating candidates and asked to vote on each of the three categories characterizing the award’s acronym. Denis Omumbwa was selected by a very large majority. He has influenced not just students within the Business program, but he has held numerous leadership roles across Kendall, such as president of the Kendall Student Government Federation, vice president (and co-founder) of the Kendall Investment Group, and president of the Kendall College International Club.

Academically, Denis has also stood out, being inducted into the Sigma Beta Delta Business Honor Society, serving as a member of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society, and receiving the Ray Geraldson Jr. Merit Scholarship for 2008-2009, the Kendall College Charitable Trust Scholarship in 2010, and making the Dean’s List all four years—from 2007 through 2011.

On his LinkedIn Profile, Denis describes himself as, “Young and ambitious. Always working, always smiling.” Well-liked by faculty members and fellow students, Denis was selected by his peers to be the student speaker at this year’s commencement ceremony.

Congratulations, Denis! You are the extremely well-deserving first recipient of the Kendall College Business P.R.O. Award!
